About Bowen Therapy
Ten years ago Charlene began studying another therapeutic modality called Bowen Therapy, originated in the 1950's by the late Thomas Bowen of Geelong, Australia. This modality has captivated her interest up to the present. Tom Bowen's approach was to reset the tension in certain muscles and muscle groups by using a unique type of stretch-and-roll-through move. Then pausing between sets of moves to give the body time to begin its response. This technique can only be effective through impeccable observation of the clients, and the ability to identify compensation patterns, and what osteopaths would call lesions. The heart of this work is precise stimulation to enable a rippling effect to move through tissue. This allows a space for the body and mind to let go of holding patterns, or fight/flight effects in order to create a condition where the body has fuller relaxation and hydration. This is created via blood and fluid exchange moving more effectively through the organs, muscles nerves and cranium. This also effects the hormonal output as well as harmonizing the left and right side of body. Charlene being a lover of the equine would say her choice in Bowen moves would be based on "the right horse for the course." View Charlene's Bowen Profile »
Scheduling a Session
Bowen Therapy works best when done with pairs of people to allow for appropriate pauses between stimulation of the proprioperceptors. If you are interested in scheduling a session please contact Charlene Proczka at (808) 635-3568 or firstname.lastname@example.org. A massage is available at Charlene's studio located on the north shore of Kauai. Out-call sessions for pairs are also available. Aloha!
